Marcus Engman
head of design, IKEA

IKEA’s focus on democratic design is at the heart of its continued success. Engman’s team creates engaging, borderless customer experiences through its products.

At IKEA we are not just making things, we are making things better. This is what design means to us. We aim to provide access to good design to everybody, regardless of location.

We believe in five pillars at IKEA. These five pillars are part of every single product that we create, produce and offer:

  1. Form
  2. Function
  3. Quality
  4. Sustainability
  5. Low price

It takes us about three years on average to apply every single of these factors into our products. IKEA wants to create products that allows our customers to create a relationship with an object.
